Design My Plan

Part 1 - Planning to Improve - what's the issue?

This half-day workshop focuses on the mid-day break and how it can be a healthier and happier time.  Although the mid-day break will be used an example you can of course work on another issue as agreed with the school.

Young people will learn to:

•  Define - the issue, what is really go on and what are they trying to improve?

•  Measure and Analyse -  how important is the issue, what is its impact and how can you measure its success?

•  Improve - what solutions are there and how can they be refined?

At this point the young people will be able to go away and do further work on their issue using the tools that they have learned, this will give them real data and information that they can use in Part 2.

Alternatively, if they have enough information within their team, they can go straight to Part 2.

Part 2 - Planning to Improve - making it happen

A further half-day workshop, which helps young people identify, implement and sustain solutions and can be run in the afternoon of Part 1 or at a later date.

Young people will learn:

•  Action planning - how to make the agreed actions happen in a defined time-scale

•  Communication - defining stakeholder groups and create a communication plan

•  Budgeting - what will the cost be, where will the funding come from

•  Celebration - thanking the team and the importance of celebrating success

•  Sustaining change - how to measure success and make sure it is sustainable

After both sessions are completed, and with the agreement of the school, young people will be able to either work on their chosen project or have the knowledge required to be able to apply it to another scenario in the future.

Both of these workshops can be run with or without GE volunteers. To find out if there are GE Volunteers near you or to obtain the material to run these workshops yourself, please go to Contact Us.
