Design My Break is part of iCount, GE's commitment to support education in the UK.

Our wide variety of programmes give young people, whatever their background, the confidence, skills and attitudes to fulfil their potential.

In schools, out in the community and at the GE workplace, our volunteers engage with young people, sharing their business and life experience to broaden minds and expand horizons.

We mainly work with young people aged 9-14, a time where bringing the curriculum to life can be crucial in creating curious and independent learners, well equipped for the future.

Volunteers work on a rich variety of programmes across education under four main headings:

  1. Physical and Emotional Health and Well-being - helping young people make positive choices now and in the future through coaching, mentoring and our Olympic programme
  2. STEM - encouraging and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
  3. Enterprise -  GE has a global partnership with Young Enterprise and encourages volunteer engagement
  4. Skills for Life - giving young people the skills they will need for life and in the work-place
